Great: Sonic The Hedgehog!

Put your hand up if you don’t remember the hyper-active blue hedgehog Sonic. Exactly. I thought so: everyone knows Sonic. If you don’t know Sonic then you must be either a) really a hater of computer games or b) such a fan of Super Mario Brothers that you never got around to playing. Sonic, if I really must say, was the fastest hedgehog in the land and, more impressively, his legend has survived into the millennium fully intact. Why? Because playing Sonic The Hedgehog was the absolute best fun there was! And it wasn’t only limited to the Mater System, no. Sonic appeared in glorious full colour—albeit it nothing like the kind of colour modern gamers have access to—on the Mega Drive too. I sill remember the day we got the Mega Drive, in its classic Bespoke Packaging Boxes. So sleek and shiny and black and with Sonic on it, the best thing in the universe bar none.

The great thing about Sonic was that it was so simple. There was nothing complicated about it, really, it was just high-speed fun that really drew you in. As well as the awesome graphics and the task of defeating the dastardly Dr. Robotnik at the end of every level, there were the sound-effects. When Sonic did a power-roll you could really feel it. Man, Sonic The Hedgehog took up time when I was a child–the real world stopped as soon as the game loaded-up. That was where my brother and I stayed until we’d defeated the evil villain!
