Computer Security Software Review: 3 Of The Best

I was looking through my newspaper for lofts east London when I got a call from a friend of mine asking about security software for his computer at home. Here is some of what I told him.

We are becoming increasingly reliant on our computers. We store key information and documents for our work, and our lives, on them. Just as we wouldn’t leave our homes unprotected, we shouldn’t leave our computers vulnerable to attack from viruses and malware. These malicious programs can give hackers control of our computers, and allow them to steal our vital information. The following review of security software can help you protect your computer.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011, $59.95, is compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 7, and can be used on up to three machines. It has an intuitive interface, scans all incoming files in real time, and protects from malware and viruses. It can also be used on an infected machine, detecting and removing the virus and restoring system default settings. It is also light on system resources.

Panda Antivirus Pro 2011, $49.95, can be used on three machines, too. It’s compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 7, easy to use, and won’t eat up system resources. It has great detection capability and real-time scanning, but system scan speeds are quite slow.

McAfee VirusScan Plus, $39.95, can only be used on only one machine. Compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 7, McAfee’s interface is very good. It has an excellent detection rate and superb real-time protection. However, system scanning uses up nearly half of system resources.
