HP Sleekbooks Set to Steal the Show?

A new generation of super-thin and light Ultrabook laptops is well and truly on the way this year, which would be all well and good were it not for one detail – eye-watering price tags. Apple is expected to introduce the new 2012 MacBook Air range which is likely to set to bar, while Intel has already signed exclusive rights to supply the chipsets for a myriad of other key names – including Hewlett Packard.However, always the innovators as we know and love them, HP have managed to get around the exclusive Intel deal by creating a second line of super-slim and sleek notebooks, which they are dubbing the Sleekbooks.

Essentially, the Envy Sleekbook range will be largely identical to their incredible Envy Ultrabooks, though minus the Intel chips and the accompanying price tag. That’s right…you might not in fact have to pull in overtime at your already demanding occupational therapy jobs just to join the Ultrabook revolution!The pricey Intel chips have been replaced with AMD processors, which might be fractionally less powerful but more than make up for this with affordability. HP is scheduled to release both 14 and 15.6 inch versions of the Envy Sleekbook – exactly the same as the Ultrabook. Needless to say, with prices confirmed as just under $600 and $700 respectively, this may well mark the first time a truly next-generation machine has been introduced with what is technically a budget price tag.

What’s more, HP has made the claim that both sizes of the Sleekbook will serve up battery life of up to nine hours, which is right on par with some of the far pricier Intel offerings. So, how do the Sleekbooks perform by comparison?We’re told very well indeed, though a full hands-on going over is still in the pipeline. Early indications suggest that the Sleekbooks will be aimed at both leisure users and small businesses not entirely hell-bent on taking home a powerhouse and nothing less. Just as is the same with the standard AMD Vs Intel notebook and netbook debate at the moment, the difference in performance will be noticeable, but certainly no cause for alarm. Of course, the real selling-point and bragging-right of any and all devices of this kind is the sleek shape, small size and light weight – all of which the Sleekbook delivers in spades. The first Sleekbooks are expected to hit the shelves over the next couple of weeks, with the larger version penciled in for a June launch.

RIM Develops Further App Store

Blackberry’s producers, the Canadian company RIM, has announced plans to expand its app store that is available to the users of its Blackberry Tablet - PlayBook. Many of the customers of the company complain that they lack greater choice in the App Store related to servicing the device. In specialized fields such as the customer data management applications, RIM seems to be providing good applications. Multimedia apps are also quite well developed by the company and offered to customers. However, the problem comes to more widely spread applications - the platform still lacks the great diversity of entertainment available on other platforms such as the iTunes for Apple consumers.

This is the reason why the company would engage in expanding its current PlayBook app availability. According to leaders in the corporation, the aim to is to reach several thousands of entertainment apps per year starting from the end of 2011. The people from the company would be talking to some of the leading Hamburg-based game developers, and would also conduct conversations with major game developers such as EA and Gameloft in order to obtain permission to distribute their most famous games over the PlayBook app store.

While working with my HR software at work one of our technicians asked if the company had a back up strategy for our servers. He went on to explain why it was necessary and some of the strategies that were available.

Server backing up strategies is too important in order to keep your files saved in the computer. When you create backup on your server, you can handle any problem that may arise concerning information and use, since you own the backup and you can do repairing as much as you like. Backing up of files depends upon the work which is done in a company and furthermore on the schedule and the space in the computer. There are different types of backups that are available for data safety:

Complete Backup: In order to provide full security to the data inside the computer, a full backup system should be used. However, it is not possible to do type of backup on a regular basis. The data present inside the computer would need greater space as it takes a lot of time to transfer. Therefore, a complete backup could be done either weekly or on a monthly basis.

Incremental or Differential Backup: These are done in order to complete the whole task quickly. In these types of backups, only those files that have undergone a change since the last session of complete or partial backup are backed up. This mode is faster and could be done within a few hours. This backup could be done on a regular basis.

Continuous Backup: Continuous backup records every single transaction upon time of creation. In simple circumstances, continuous backup is not possible, and for this a real-time server is required.

McAfee VirusScan Plus, $39.95, can only be used on only one machine. Compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 7, McAfee’s interface is very good. It has an excellent detection rate and superb real-time protection. However, system scanning uses up nearly half of system resources.

Dells new XPS 15 should be seen as a totally redesigned notebook with great multimedia capabilities. This bad boy has a JBL sound system coupled with a subwoofer, a fast processor the Intel Core i5, dedicated graphics in the form of NVIDA GT 420 M, and is built with entertainment and performance in mind.This new laptop has a frame, both top and bottom, that is aluminum based. This makes it a lot sturdier since most laptop base are covered with plastic. It is somewhat thicker than its competition and comes in at a weight of about 6.6 pounds.

The screen is what you will find on base model laptops but Dell offers a screen option called the RGB LED which should suit those of you who must have better resolution.

There has been a modification to the keyboard as it is a Chiclet style with the keys slightly elevated which make the typing experience fun. There is also LED backlight right under each key so in areas that are not well lit this laptop will be a standout. The mouse pad is very responsive even the space is small.

There are 3 USB ports so you can use an adapter to use your r4 card. There is also a HD webcam, a DisplayPort, and a HDMI. With the webcam you will be able to shoot video in 720p and it is also certified by Skype, meaning video chat is done in high definition. You can get a Blu-ray drive if you like and there is a hard drive of 750Gb.

The XPS 15 has the usual WiFi capabilities along with Bluetooth and WiMax. It also has a reasonably good 6 hour battery life.

Flying to Europe? New EU plug needed!

Except for the Cheap Flights from London and across the EU, the European organisation has many more beneficial sides - the free trade union, the peace preservation on the continent, the free exchange of labour and the cooperation in dozens of areas like criminal affairs, culture and education and others. However, EU has established itself as an organisation that has a green view for the future and that has some initiatives that would enhance the environmental protection programmes making Europe a cleaner place.

Such a legislative measure would force the producers of mobile phones for the European market to use the so called ’standard charger’. This is a concept that grew into legislation to take effect in 2012 aiming to reduce the materials that phone producers use for chargers and plugs and thus reduce pollution caused by electrical waste. Furthermore, the Union has agreed on the legislation and says that no phones would be sold with a charger which means that once you have the charger, you will no longer need to buy another one in the pack with your phone.

This is definitely a good environmental protection step for the European Union since it is not only preserving the environment by reducing the potential electrical waste but is also saving material and reducing indirectly the pollution from the producing process of plastics. Plastics are a product of the oil industry which is harmful for the environment and producing less plastics for chargers reduce the rates of negative effects of the cycle. Furthermore, the copper metal used in these chargers would be cut significantly and more resources would be saved from using a single charger for all phones. This only by issuing a minor legislative measure the Union would save tons of metal, energy and reduce the effects of the oil industry in other production cycles.
